This is my second attempt at blogging. My first blog chronicled my amazing life as an au pair in Torino, Italy. I decided to move back to the states in the middle of December 2007. With the start of a new year, I moved to Houston, Texas and started my "adult" life post grad.
For the last seventeen months (who's counting right?) I have been living in Houston and working in the interior design world. I decided not to blog these months because they paled in comparison to my ever-changing and interesting life in Torino. Why the sudden change of heart, you ask? Three weeks ago I started a new job on the west side of town and with the new opportunity came a commute. This traveling 20-30 minutes one way to my place of employment is new to me. I was spoiled at my last job because it was literally around the corner. If I was unfortunate to hit both red lights my "commute" could take six minutes.
My eyes have been opened to the crazy world of Houston drivers and I thought blogging about my experience while traveling to and from work would not only give me a platform to let my road rage out, but hopefully make for enjoyable reading. It is quite amazing what you can encounter during twenty minutes on the highway.
I promise this blog will not be an angry tirade on my fellow drivers, (just a few critiques) but involve lite and funny observations on many things people around the US encounter daily while driving. Let's face it the average American spends more time in their car than they do in their own home. Okay maybe this is only true for those of us that live in cities lacking good public transportation. So buckle up and enjoy the ride...
